Applications

This CNMG431-VL NC5330 insert supports cutting speeds from 361 to 755 sfm, feeds between 0.002 and 0.010 in/rev, and depths of cut up to 0.040 in. It is designed for general to interrupted cutting operations, accommodating a wide range of machining conditions. The small 1/64″ nose radius enables finishing to light semi-finishing with good surface quality when cutting depths and feeds are kept on the lower end. It is suitable primarily for ISO P30-P35 steels, with secondary capability in M20-M30 stainless steels, K30 cast irons, and S15-S25 HRSA/titanium alloys. Its negative rake design and robust edge strength make it ideal for medium to rough turning and facing, including interrupted cuts, but it is not recommended for precision finishing or profiling operations.
