Applications

This CNMG544-GR NC3120 insert supports cutting speeds from 525 to 984 sfm, feeds between 0.010 and 0.030 in/rev, and depths of cut up to 0.315 in. These parameters enable robust general cutting operations with a focus on medium to rough turning and facing. The 1/16″ nose radius balances edge strength with surface finish quality for semi-rough passes. Designed primarily for ISO P20-P25 steel, this insert excels in roughing and interrupted cuts due to its negative rake and strong edge. It is well-suited for production OD turning, facing of forgings and castings with scale, and boring in rigid setups. However, it is not recommended for precision finishing, profiling, or thin-wall workpieces sensitive to radial forces.
