Applications

Engineered for precision finishing in steel, the YG1 86593TC solid carbide end mill measures 1/2″ in diameter with a 1-1/4″ length of cut. Its 5-flute design and 45° helix angle are complemented by a TiCN coating, optimizing surface finish and chip evacuation during machining of low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36. This tools high flute count and variable pitch reduce vibration and improve finish quality with light radial stock. Although it can also be used on non-ferrous, stainless steel, and cast iron materials, it is not a good match with heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA) to avoid rapid coating degradation. The center cutting geometry supports slotting and plunge cuts, but the lack of a corner radius requires controlled feed rates to prevent edge chipping.
